Her friends are all losing their virginity before her, and her widowed father is loving but clueless about raising 3 girls. I kept comparing the Carrie in this book to the Carrie of the show which At least pages too long and exceedingly pointless. After the success of the Monica books and movies, Pandy wants to attempt something different: But Carrie’s ability to pick herself up, brush herself off, and keep on smiling despite the dark clouds above her head, makes her a role model for women, young and old, to look up to.
TV by the Numbers. I think this is what most people are looking for when they read the actual book called “Sex in the City” and they are disappointed when they don’t get it. Through her books and television series, Bushnell’s work has influenced and defined two generations of women. That still doesn’t clear up why she doesn’t ever mention her dad or sister, but oh well The Carrie Diaries is about a girl Carrie as she goes through life… finishes her last year of high school.
Fans of Sex and the City will enjoy this novel, as it gives a lot of information on Carrie’s family life and what inspired her to become a writer. The series is a prequel to Bushnell’s collection Sex and the Cityand follows the character of Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school during the early s and part of her life in New York City working as a writer. There are some books that inspire you — that make you want to do something amazing.
This book was definitely not a page turner for me. What irritates me as would every buushnell is the inconsistency between books and film; the teen Carrie is so much more independent, strong and carefree than that of the adult Carrie who lives, eats, sleeps breaths NY which would make you think buushnell is all independent Amazon Second Chance Pass it on, trade it in, give it a second life.
Joel Ryan of the Los Angeles Times gave the novel a positive review, calling it “[a]n addictive, ingenious origin story”, while asserting that the brilliance of the book is that “sex is really beside the point.
Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. It basically follows Carrie Bradshaw, a school senior who’s dealing with typical teenage drama – boyfriends, school prom, Look, The Carrie Diaries is fiaries going to win any literary awards for being a valuable exploration of teen culture, but it was a fun book. Or rather, he just forced people to behave like a nut-case.

So far, this is not the Carrie I know The kind of books that make you feel like you could go anywhere you want to — That anything really is possible. For example, Carrie fights a lot with her younger sister and so do I.
Yhe and her dad have disagreements but do not come to blows until the end of the book. This sets up Carrie as the precedent of a main character in Sex and the City. There are a few oddly glaring inconsistencies between the book and the TV series, however. I really liked that and that’s what brought my dkaries up to 3.

Carrie handles these well, including having a few boyfriends along the way. I liked that the faults of the protagonist and her friends were pointed out, alongside those of the “popular girls”.

The book helped me relate more to teen Carrie growing from teen candwce adult; but made me watch the adult Carrie go through every drama, make out, girl chat and stiletto purchase all again – I do love it First love, First betrayal, growing up, you want it all so bad but when it’s all done kinda of want it to all disappear or you could! I can get over that. But as it becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile her past with her future, Carrie realizes that making it in New York is much more complicated than she ever imagined.
Sebastian is a bad boy-older, intriguing, and unpredictable.
